AWS Shower and Bath Options
Having a shower or a tub is essential in any household. Everyone wants an easy to clean bathroom design. At AWS we offer shower, bath, and even shower-bath installation. For enhanced strength and structure, our walls and base are coextruded in high-tech polymer and ABS, and the shower surface is constructed of acrylic. Being able to have no grout shower walls and a groutless bathroom is something a lot of people strive for. Unlike most showers and bathtubs, ours is made of a non-porous polymer that prevents mold and mildew from growing. Furthermore, soap, scum, and bacteria do not build, resulting in easy to clean shower walls with non-hazardous chemical cleansers. With us specializing in doors and windows, we also offer a selection of either curtains or sliding windows for your low maintenance shower.
There is a plentiful number of styles, textures, colors, and accessories to choose from that will help you find the aesthetic look you were looking for.
- Soap Dish
- Window Trim Kit
- Metal Corner (L-Shape & Rectangle)
- Polymer Corner Caddy (2 Shelf, 4 Shelf, & Tower)
How to Keep Shower Clean
The idea of scrubbing until it is squeaky clean is out of the picture on this one. Excessive scrubbing and the use of abrasive cleaners will dull the gloss surface of your shower, which is not what you want. With the use of mild soap, take a warm soft washcloth and wipe down the surface of your bath, shower, and wall surround for a quick and easy to clean routine that you can conduct every day or a couple of times a week. This simple routine can also be conducted in the shower for increased efficiency and provide lower maintenance. This can also be done to other walls that aren’t even with our polymer-based shower interior, just be cautious. For your convenience in a groutless bathroom, approved cleansers are listed below. If you desire to use a different product, make sure you always review its specific instructions and test on a small area before fully soaking your whole shower or bath.
Precaution for Drain Cleaners
When choosing between liquid, powdered, or crystal drain cleaners, the liquid is the most viable option. When using liquid drain cleaners, remove the drain stopper and empty out any standing water in the bathtub. To avoid spillage, use a funnel and pour the chemicals directly down the drain. Make careful that no chemicals get into touch with the acrylic surface as it can damage it. After settled, let it sit for 15-30 minutes depending on how clogged up the drain is, and run through hot water. Putting this in your routine can provide a huge help in maintaining an easy to clean shower.
Shower Cleaners (Recommended)
- Dawn Dish Soap & Water
- Formula 409
- Vinegar and water if needed to soften mineral deposits
- Use ½ cup Clorox Bleach per gallon of water as a disinfectant. Rinse well.
- Chore Boy or 3M Sponge Pad (Only if other cleaners don’t work)
Cleaning Glass (If applicable)
Begin with a half-cup of baking soda, then add water as required to produce a thick paste. Scrub the glass with a nonabrasive sponge and rinse it with vinegar. While this is good for the short term, in order to optimize a low maintenance shower, there are some long-term solutions. Rain-X and Water Armor, both available in the automotive department, are promoted to repel water from windshields, but they may also be used to repel water from glass-walled showers. Simply spray the product on clean glass after cleaning and reapply every three to four weeks. This will, in turn, provide a protective barrier and help towards a clean groutless bathroom.
Cleaning Products to Avoid
There are a lot of cleaning products to avoid. Use of any cleaners of chemicals listed under “Do Not Use” will cause a dull shower interior and easily recognizable chemical crack within the walls. Here at AWS, we provide a lifetime warranty, however, doing so will void your product guarantee. There is no need to use abrasive cleaning, which can dull the gloss over time. If none of the other recommended cleaners work, use a Chore Boy or 3M Sponge Pad. Use only those that are indicated for Teflon or nonstick surfaces.
DO NOT USE:
Original Clean Shower, Clean Shower for Plastic Showers & Glass, Soft Scrub, Dow disinfectant cleaner, Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, Scrub Free, Lysol disinfectant cleaner, acetone, Lestoil, ammonia, fingernail polish remover, aerosol cleaners, or scouring pads.
